Our story
A Dental Student's Mission
From the roller derby rink to your dental office, my journey to create Sentinel Mouthguards was fueled by passion and a desire to make a difference. Before starting Sentinel, I was attending LSU for dental hygiene, splitting my time between classes, roller derby matches, and part-time work at a dental office. For two years, my schedule was packed with teeth and tackles, giving me a unique blend of technical knowledge and resilience.
During my time at the dental office, I met Janelle, who had an online business creating custom flippers for beauty pageants. I started thinking, "Why not do the same for mouth guards?" As a roller derby player, I had made my own custom guard with my derby name “Slim Skatey” on it, and it was a hit with my team. That’s when the light bulb went off – combine my dental experience and derby spirit to create affordable, custom mouth guards!
Inspired by my passion for dental health and my experience as a roller derby player, I founded Sentinel Mouthguards. As a dental assistant, I witnessed firsthand the challenges people face with oral health and the high cost of dental care. This motivated me to create a solution that offers affordable, high-quality custom mouthguards.
